The ID Theft Act makes identity theft a federal crime with penalties of up to 15 years’ imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000.

it seems so easy don’t it. What if you steal a number of an 80 year old women in a nursing home. They it gets flagged because she’s on retirement/soci sec. . then her checks get stopped ..Then she can’t pay her living cost and ends up living on the street. Somebody is getting hurt by that..you just don’t know who.. THAT happened (the women story) here in this area.

Also ILLEGALS can get social security now after 5 years .

the person that stole or bought the social security card will loose out the most. unless they create debt for that stolen identiy then the person that got their identity stolen will suffer. but it will soon be found out who did it and then they will suffer the most and will likely be deported if they are illegal

People who have had their social security numbers stolen. The vast majority of stolen numbers are abused and have a negative effect on the rest of their lives.

There’s one woman who’s SSN was sold 81 times, and the IRS has judgments against her for dozens of different accounts. By the time she gets to the age to use SSN, even though the 81 people were paying into it, there will be little left because the government is garnishing her contributions, plus fees and penalties for not filing taxes.

Although the stealer used your number, he wont get any benefits upon retirement for the reason that you number is forever your number in the SSS database which must tally with other identity you submitted to the office live your full name, date of birth, and name of parents and their employments, your employment record. So for example is there a person with same middle name? SSS is very strict on records. by the way who stole the number? At first instance the SSS personnel can detect right at the premium remittance.

The person who loses out is the person who’s number was stolen. Do you have any idea what a nightmare it is to have your identity stolen? What about the people who are penalized by the IRS because supposedly they have another job in a state they have never been to and didn’t report the taxes for that job?
I cannot understand why people think it is ok to commit a federal crime by stealing another persons SS#,or using a made up one.It is a CRIME.And why would you think that someone here illegally should even think they were entitled to get benefits put in place for American citizens?
It really irritates me when this illegal act is used to justify them working illegally in our country. The poor illegals pay taxes, but they can’t get any of it back…boo hoo.

The person who loses is always the person who lost his social security number to another. This is Identity Theft & its a growing problem There are special depts in the police forces to deal with this. It can take several years to sort it all out Maybe as little as two years.
