    Vin,,etching,,is when the serial number is etched in to all the glass,and on all the main body parts,,also on the engine,,as well as some of the engine parts,,ad its even put in places you wouldn’t dream of finding numbers on a car,,and recovery,,is what they do when they find one,,they can find who it did belong to,,because of the etching on it,,i own a repair and we do the etching process here,,it make your insurance a few bucks lower,,and also thieves see the etching on it,,and sometimes wont bother it,,because its harder to sell the parts if there etched,,good luck with it,,i hope his help,s.

    the etching that is most used for recovery is in the windshield…
    Your question is does this car have it? for a quote?
    call a dealer and ask if that model comes stock with the etching

    VIN, (vehicle identification number) is acid etched into the exterior glass for easy identification. A kit can be purchased for the do-it-yourselfer.
