There is always more. This is sure to garner another phone call from someone at Brinks. My suggestion is to call around. $45 is far below the cost of the system and I would be worried about what you are getting for that price.
Just a little industry info to help you out. Everyone in the industry is after monitoring accounts, at the end of the day the account is worth 600 to 900 bucks depending on the contract term. If they don’t sell the account then they still gather the 25 bucks per month assuming you stay beyond the contract term they make money. Typically these cheapo systems consist of 2 door contacts and one motion detector (Far from a complete system for anything other than a trailer.) If you want more, that is where the costs add up. It is sometimes better to get a quote for a complete system rather than being pulled into sales techniques.
Personally, I tend to go with smaller local companies with a proven track record over the multi-nationals, of course if you are in Texas, Brinks is a local company.
I have a few articles on my website which may be of interest. Particularly False alarm info and Protection 101. The URL is
